A Quiet Saturday

I thought I would post a photo just to keep things interesting. It seems like many long workout days have been replaced with arduous red wagon intervals with my son Dan (aka Tre). As you can tell he is pretty excited about the red wagon ride we are about to embark upon.
Everything has been going well in Texas; in fact I have just finished an enjoyable and quiet week of vacation. With a void of work, I had the opportunity to swim and ride a fair amount, and run as much as I could - not too much. It seems my pesky bunions are turning my toes into pretzels, and its going to required a permanent fix pretty soon.
We have had some wonderful family visits and the opportunity to catch up with lost friends, and we have even made some new ones! We had a super visit with our old friend Gayla last night. It was great!
I also ran into a triathlete friend, John, while riding yesterday. He earned a Kona spot at Ironman New Zealand. John is very talented and I look forward to seeing him succeed in Hawaii!
I had the pleasure of participating in the Silverlake triathlon down the street a few weeks ago. It was an enjoyable race, although I had a headache and upset stomach - so after the race, I had a worse headache and an empty stomach. I think it was the longest 3-mile run I have ever done!!!! In any case, it was great to see some of my friends race, and even better to see some people have a great race.
The most exciting part was wearing all cool ZOOT/GU stuff and meeting a few new people.
My wife Andrea met a new mom at her mommy/baby yoga class last month. Would you know it, her husband is a triathlete! Today, I had the best time riding and swimming with him (BJ) some new triathlete buddies (Mark and Will). Strangely, being focused on the "big prize" takes some of the fun out of the sport. We had a nice 42ish mile ride and quick open water swim. Mark was trying out a wetsuit, and I was trying to stay on his feet. There is always something to work on . . . . . They are getting ready for the Austin 70.3 in the fall. They are so fired up!!!!
Thats it for now. Hope to see you at the races!
Train Safe.
