We (Andrea, my mother-in-law Julie, her husband Mike, and baby Dan) arrived without a hitch yesterday. Everything went well during the flights and the baby was extremely well behaved. 6-weeks old and he hardly made a sound on the six hour flight from Phoenix to Kona. We received many positive compliments on his behavior, so we must be doing a great job as parents!
The Ironman Champion Karen Smyers was on our flight; of course it was full of many other energetic super athletes.
We had a a bit of a rental car problem; we brought too much luggage! After getting our original car, returning it, and upgrading to a MINIVAN, we spent quite a bit of time in traffic before making it to our condo to find the screen door locked and no way to access the key box! The easy trip started to get tricky. After flagging down a security officer, he assisted us opening a window. I ultimately did the Ironman crawl through the window to open up the front door. Finally.
A few words of advice: make reservations well in advance and get here early in the week!
After cleaning up a bit, we drove to Kenichi Pacific Sushi Cuisine in the Keahou Shopping Center. We had a fantastic meal; It was so nice to have some fresh island food again! We followed up dinner with some food shopping and headed back to the condo for much needed sleep.
