Monday, (Yesterday) was a short night of sleep and an early start to the day. I didn't get enough sleep and it made for a rough day Monday - Labor Day. I think waking up at 4:30 a.m. is tough when your not used to it. After a pretty easy day of flying - thank goodness - I ended in Richmond, V.A.. I had brought my running shoes, and thought I would either take a full day off or recover with a light run. I hit the bed as soon as I arrived in my room (5:30 p.m.) and woke up again at 8 p.m.; I did a little paperwork for work, and tried to get right back to sleep. It didn't work.
I Tossed and Turned until who knows what time. Finally, the alarm went off, 4:15 a.m. (3:15 a.m. Central Time) - Where am I? What's that noise? Ouch, this doesn't feel right. Who do I work for, FedEx??
After 36 oz of coffee by 10:00 a.m., I reduced my fatigue to the thudding pain in my head and a lump in my throat. I still had the empty look of a 1980's microprocessor and the brainpower to go with it. We managed to finish our flights, and my intention, you know those intentions, was to get home, spend some time with the family, NAP, and get to the pool, swim long, and do a 13 mile run, with 6 miles at a hustling pace. The NAP didn't happen, so you can figure out the rest. I am so disappointed in my discipline, or lack thereof. No training today. I am still beat down from looping my circadian clock.
Wait a Minute!
How ungrateful for me to think like that! I have a job that provides for my family who loves me and I am blessed with the health, fitness, and resources to take part in an awesome race in Hawaii next month.
I will get back to training tomorrow, and be grateful for the extra recovery day.
More good stuff:
My very good friend Josh at RMS Triathlon (www.rmstriathlon.com) is putting a custom Titanium Bike together for me. I will get it Wednesday. I better do something with it, because it has his stickers on it!!!!
Thanks for keeping up!

Delts, I read that last post and your problem isn't discipline. It's just that there weren't enough hours in *that* day to do all the stuff you gotta do. It does happen from time to time. Just don't make a habit of it, OK?
^^^ Discipline. Ya. Just in case. :)
